Tamil Nadu [ CM ] Chief Minister Stalin will launch the Tamil Puthalvan Scheme 2024 in Coimbatore on Friday [ 09-08-2024 ] :
Tamil Puthalvan Scheme of the Government of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin begins in ( 9th August)
In a press release, the Tamil Nadu government said: "To make the poor and underprivileged students studying in government schools achievers and to increase the higher education intake of government school students, a massive scheme called Tamil Puthalvan will be introduced from the coming financial year.
As part of this program, kids enrolled in government schools in grades six through twelve will get a direct deposit of one thousand rupees into their bank accounts, which they can use to buy periodicals, general information books, and textbooks to help them study better.
In pursuance of that announcement, Chief Minister Stalin will launch the Tamil Puthalvan project tomorrow[ 09-08-2024 ] in Coimbatore. Under this scheme, about 3 lakh 28 thousand college students studying in Tamil medium in government schools and government-aided schools, who have passed class 12 and are enrolled in colleges, will get a monthly stipend of Rs. They will get Rs 1,000.

The Tamil Nadu government ( TN GOVT ) has sanctioned Rs 360 crore for the project Tamil pudhalvan scheme this year. It helps students who are unable to pursue higher education after school due to various reasons including lack of economic facilities.

On an average, 7,72,000 students complete their higher secondary education every year through government higher secondary schools and government-aided higher secondary schools in Tamil Nadu. And Tamil Nadu has the highest number of students enrolled in colleges in India. Tamil Nadu has emerged as the top state in higher education in India.
Education is wealth. In order to promote higher education in Tamil Nadu on the basis that this wealth of education should be given to the poor, rich, irrespective of caste and religion, girls who attend government schools from class 6 to 12 should be given a monthly stipend of Rs. Innovative Girl Child Programme for 1,000 students was launched on 5-09-2022 at Government Bharathiyar College for Women, Chennai
Under this scheme, more women are enrolled in colleges in the last year than those who are enrolled in colleges on a regular basis.
The success of the scheme is evident from the fact that out of 2,09,365 girl students benefitted during the financial year 2023 - 2024 , an additional 2,73,596 girl students have been benefitted during the financial year 2023 - 2024 with an addition of about 64,231 girls. About 3,28,280 girl students have been benefitted under the Innovative Girl Child Programme since its inception.
Under this scheme, in the financial year 2022 - 2023 , an amount of Rs. 100.11 crore for the financial year 2023 - 2024., 271.66 crore has been disbursed to girl students at the rate of Rs.1,000 per month. For the financial year 2024 - 2025, an amount of Rs. An amount of Rs. 370.00 crore has been provided. From April 2024 to July 2024, Rs. An expenditure of Rs. 95.61 crore has been incurred.
