Tamil Puthalvan And Puthumai Penn Scheme Incentives issues - Students Complaint :
There have been complaints that the Government College at Veppanthattai in Perambalur district has not been given incentives for the Tamil Putulvan and Puthumai Penn Scheme for the past five months. The students said that they had complained to the District Collector in this regard and expressed anguish that they were finding it difficult to pay for education and bus fares due to non-availability of incentives. The Tamil Puthalvan scheme :
With the objective of providing quality education to the students studying in Tamil Nadu and to increase the enrolment rate of students in higher education and to ensure that all children get education, the Government of Tamil Nadu has introduced various schemes such as Breakfast Scheme, Reading Habitat Promotion Scheme, Counting and Writing Scheme, Home Search Education and Puthumai Penn Child Scheme. The Puthumai Penn Child Scheme, which provides Rs.1000 per month to girl students studying in Government schools for pursuing higher education, is getting good response in Tamil Nadu. As a result, the Tamil Nadu government decided to implement a similar scheme for students studying in government schools. 'Tamil Puthalvan Scheme 'is a great scheme introduced for the higher education of students who have studied in Tamil medium in government school and government aided school from 6th to 12th standard. Under this scheme, students of government schools studying in higher education in Tamil Nadu will be given a monthly stipend of Rs .1000 till their first higher education.
Features of the Tamil Puthalvan scheme :
Under the scheme, a monthly stipend of Rs .1000 per student is deposited directly into the bank account of the students. Students can apply for this scheme even if they are receiving any other scholarship. Under this scheme, scholarship is provided for the first three years only to the students studying in Integrated Courses. Under the Tamil Puthalvan Scheme, scholarships are provided to all students who have studied from 6th to 12th standard in Most Backward Classes Welfare Schools, Differently Abled Welfare Department Schools, Forest Department Schools, Social Security Department Schools, Government Service Homes and Government Children Homes.
What courses are eligible for this scholarship? :
Under the Tamil Puthalvan scheme, students studying in arts and science, vocational courses, para-medical courses, diploma courses and certificate courses are given scholarships till the completion of their education.umisdashboard.tnega.org
Who is not eligible for this scheme? :
Students studying in private schools will not be able to get scholarships under the Tamil Puthalvan scheme. Similarly, students studying in distance education and open university are not eligible for this scheme. Students who have studied in schools other than Tamil Nadu cannot apply for the Tamil Puthalvan scheme.

Any one of these documents can be a driving license, voter ID card, PAN card, ration card, or residential address proof.
How to apply for the Tamil Nadu Apprentice Scheme? :
Step 1 : Students can apply for the Tamil Puthalvan scheme, which aims to make poor and underprivileged students studying in government schools and government-aided schools achievers, through their schools or educational institutions.
Step 2 : Students can apply online through the official website of UMIS.https://umisdashboard.tnega.org/auth/login
Step 3 : Candidates who wish to apply for the Tamil Puthalvan programme through online mode should first visit the official University Management Information System website at https: / / umisdashboard.tnega.org / auth / login.
Step 4 : Now, on the home screen of the website, the applicant will have to enter their username and password.
Step 5 : You can get your username and UMIS number from the school or educational institution where you are studying.
Step 6 : The password consists of 8 digits including the last 4 digits of your mobile number registered in UMIS and your year of birth.
( For example, suppose your mobile number is 8 * * * * * 00980 and your year of birth is 1998.) Then your password will be "09801998." )
Step 7 : Enter your username, password and captcha code and click on login.
Step 8 : Now the application form will appear on the screen. All requested information must be included. Be sure to include all required documentation.
Step 9 : After entering all the details, the candidate has to check it once again and click on the SUBMIT button.
Step 10 : Your application has been successfully submitted.
How long will the assistance last? :
Students will get a monthly stipend of Rs .1000 will be provided to them. However, scholarships will not be provided to students who wish to pursue post-graduation.umisdashboard.tnega.org
