Who are not eligible to benefit from the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme ?
The Government of Tamil Nadu is implementing various schemes for the welfare of women. Development, which includes maturation, progress and transformation, is incomplete without the active participation and empowerment of women.
Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme :
Over the years, various policies and programmes have been introduced to uplift the status of women and make them well-educated, self-reliant, self-reliant and economically independent.
According to the Global Gender Gap Report 2024, India has been ranked 127th among 146 countries. Gender inequality affects women.

This scheme provides Rs.1000 / -per month to about 115 crore family heads and is an important initiative to recognize the hard work of women who work tirelessly throughout their lives for their families. It will improve the livelihood of women, raise their standard of living, and lead to living with self-respect in society.
Who are not eligible to benefit from the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme ?
If any of the family members of the applicant applying for the benefit of Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme are members of any of the following categories of family, then the applicant from that family is not eligible for the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme.
- Families with an annual income of more than Rs 25 lakh.www.kmut.tn.gov.in
- The annual family income is Taxpayers with income above Rs 2.5 lakh.
- Income above Rs 2.5 lakh is taxable.
- State / Central Government employees / Employees of Public Sector Undertakings / Banks / Boards. Employees of local bodies and co-operative societies are pensioners. and their elected public representatives (other than the members of the Panchayat Council Ward i.e. Members of Parliament, / District Panchayat Presidents, District Panchayat Members).
-Panchayat presidents and secretaries, municipal chairpersons and village officials attended the meeting. Leaders and those who own four wheelers like uniform, jeep, tractor, heavy vehicle for personal use.
- Businesses with an annual turnover of more than Rs 50 lakh pay Goods and Services Tax (GST).
What are the new exceptions ?
- Intellectual disability severely affected disability provided by the Department of Differently Abled Welfare. Spinal cord / spinal cord amnesia and Parkinson's disease variability, muscular dystrophy disease variability. Families with a member receiving a care allowance for leprosy disabled persons are eligible to apply.
- Candidates are eligible if they meet the other qualifications of the scheme and do not meet any of the eligibility criteria. You can also apply.
- Non-pensioner eligible women from families receiving old age pension under Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme, Chief Minister's Farmers Protection Scheme and Non-Organised Labour Welfare Boards are also eligible to apply under Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, if they meet the other eligibility criteria of the scheme and do not fall under any ineligibility category.
- Persons with disabilities receiving disability pension under the Department of Revenue. If the eligible women in the family also fulfill the other qualifications of the scheme and do not fall in any of the non-eligibility categories, then they are eligible to apply for the KMUTscheme , " the statement declared.
The government's goal :
About 1.15 crore women are now beneficiaries of this scheme. Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme . One crore 15 lakh rupees are going to the women every month. The aim of the government is to consider the applications of all those who have applied for this scheme and give it to all those who are eligible.
At the same time, a few lakh eligible women are still not able to take advantage of this scheme. They have been waiting for a long time to join this scheme.
Deputy Chief Minister assures :
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, who recently spoke about the scheme, said, "The Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme will be extended in another 3 months. All eligible women will be included in the scheme.www.kmut.tn.gov.in
Speaking during the House debate on the need for funding for the Sports Department and Special Program Implementation, Udhayanidhi Stalin said, "In the past 19 months, women have received Rs 21,657 crore in monthly honoraria. An opportunity will be provided soon to assist qualified women who have not yet received the honorarium in applying for the project."
The Deputy CM stated that approximately 2,437 requests were received under the Ungal Thoguthiyil Muthalamaichar (UTM – CM in your constituency) scheme, with 513 of those requests being deemed impracticable. The Deputy CM also noted that orders have been issued for approximately 96% of the 6,812 announcements made by their government and approximately 3,838 announcements fulfilled by the government.
He said that 216 similar projects were being carried out after 91 constituencies submitted alternative demands. He also mentioned that 2.65 lakh people, including 1.34 lakh women, have been given jobs through placement camps as part of the Naan Muthalvan program.
